About the Therapist

Hi, I’m Jayce

I get that it’s not easy to ask for help, because I’ve been there. I have experienced my own journey of healing from my parent’s divorce, the lasting effects of family/religious trauma, and anxiety/depression that has given me the opportunity to be here, alive and thankful for today. It was in college when I reached a breaking point of feeling hopeless, misunderstood, and unbearably alone that I almost gave up. Fortunately, after some encouragement from others, I took the scary and humbling step to seek help from a therapist. It wasn’t easy at first, but therapy helped me feel seen and heard without judgement and gave me the space to find my own truth, voice, and healing.

It is because of my time in therapy that I have gained a new lease on life: I have moved from a place of self-hatred to one of self-acceptance and love, from chaotic relationships with others to deep and meaningful connections, and from feeling alone in a dark world, to being aware of the endless possibilities life has to offer.

It is my lived experience that has instilled in me a passion to help others undergo their own healing and growth. I bring my collective identity as a mixed-race, Japanese American musician with me in my work as a therapist. I aim to offer a space for you to feel seen, accepted, and less alone so that you can explore your moments of suffering and discover meaningful change with someone who cares.

In addition to my work as a therapist, I write and perform songs I hope will help listeners experience joy and a sense of connectedness. I also enjoy rock climbing, being in nature, and time spent with loved ones, including my two golden pups.

I studied music composition and hermeneutics at Azusa Pacific University and received a BA in Music Theory. l completed my MS in Marital and Family Therapy at CSU Dominguez Hills.

In addition to private practice, I have seen clients at Southern California Counseling Center, where I have trained for four years gaining experience working with issues related to anxiety, depression, couples and family issues, trauma, exploration of sexuality, cultural identity, and adolescence.

I provide EMDR therapy for clients in need of trauma informed care.
